Dental Crowns & Bridges
When a tooth is damaged, decayed or cracked, a crown may be recommended to restore the tooth and prevent further damage. A crown is a permanent "cap" that covers the entire tooth structure above the gum. Our crowns are made of porcelain and zirconium and look and feel very much like a natural tooth. Crowns can also be used cosmetically to brighten a smile, reshape the teeth and realign your teeth, creating a beautiful and vibrant smile.

A dental bridge consists of three or more crown units fused together to replace a space where one or more teeth are missing. A bridge is made up of a a filler tooth (the pontic) that is attached to adjacent crowns (abutments). The bridge is bonded into the mouth to fill the space and restore your smile, your bite and overall oral health. Leaving spaces in the mouth where your natural teeth were can cause your teeth to shift, leading to biting issues and jaw problems. Bridges can maintain the integrity of your tooth alignment and help you maintain your overall oral health.

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain, very similar to a fingernail, that are bonded to the front of your teeth to enhance your smile. Veneers are often used to correct spaces between your teeth, whiten teeth that are heavily stained or discolored, improve the shape and size of your teeth, correct slight misalignment, and restore chipped, worn or broken teeth. With porcelain veneers, you can achieve a natural-looking, beautiful smile!
Porcelain veneers are one of the best solutions for smile revitalization because you can improve so many features in your smile, while still maintaining a natural look. Porcelain is stain resistant, so your smile will remain bright and white for many years. We welcome you to call SC Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry at (864) 647-9000 to schedule your free consultation with Dr. James Hicks and find out if porcelain dental veneers are the right solution for your smile goals!

Tooth Colored Fillings
At SC Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry, we routinely do dental x-rays and check your teeth for cavities are detected early, they may be small enough to be removed and the tooth can be repaired with a dental filling. Our fillings are done in silver (amalgam) or tooth colored (composite). While amalgam fillings are an option, often times, Dr. James Hicks recommends composite fillings because they are more attractive and do not contain mercury.
Tooth colored fillings are restorative and cosmetic as they are used to restore the natural tooth structure after the dental decay (cavity) is removed from the tooth. Tooth colored fillings may also be used to:
-
Close small gaps between teeth
-
Reshape and resize teeth
-
Cover exposed roots
-
Repair small chips or fractures on teeth
Tooth colored fillings are more attractive than silver fillings and they are mercury free. The composite material is strong and durable and can withstand the chewing and biting forces of the mouth. The process of getting a tooth colored filling is very simple, requiring only one visit and usually little if any pain after the procedure.
